PALMA HOUSE | 2019
The ethos of Palma House was to create a house that is both luxurious and contemporary, whilst also being respectful towards the natural Maltese landscape that it lies upon. A house that partakes in a dialogue that is already happening within the surrounding context; a truly Mediterranean house.
The house is defined and structured using a rhythm of arches - smaller arches for the private and more intimate spaces, contrasted with tall and wide arches for the more ‘dramatic’ and dynamic living spaces. This sequence of arches - varying in amplitude - would culminate in an architectural crescendo at the very end.
By providing a contemporary spatial experience which is still respectful of its Maltese context, the house is a haven of peace; a blank canvas where art can be exhibited; and a place in the sun that’s a celebration of everything Mediterranean.
